# SMP Basics
+

+
+ Welcome to the Iridium Network's SMP Gamemode! This first tutorial will walk you through the very basics that any player starting out should be aware of, and set you up for success while playing on the SMP.
+
+
+ **When you spawn in for the first time, you will have the following items:**
+ - **The Wiki Book**
+
+ This is probably what led you here to begin with! It's there so everyone is aware this wiki exists, as it contains a lot of useful information!
+ - **A Golden Shovel**
+
+ This is extremely important! This shovel allows you to create and modify **land claims,** which can protect your builds, mobs, and items from other players. More information can be found below.
+ - **16x Steak**
+
+ ![](./image-1740498274779.gif)
+
+ If you lose these items, or need more for any reason, you can use the command **"/kit newplayer"** to get these items at any time.

- #### The Wiki Book
- This is potentially the thing that led you here to begin with! It's to make people aware that this wiki exists and that you should be reading it.
- ####
- #### The Golden Shovel
- The golden shovel is essential to both protecting your items as well as setting up your base on the SMP, as it allows you to create and modify **Land Claims**.

## Leaving Spawn
+

+
Now that you know what and why you have the items in your inventory, it's time to head out into the world and make yourself known! Thankfully, you don't have to walk several thousand blocks just to find an empty plot of land, you can use one (or more) of these very useful commands.
+
+
+ ##### **/tpr**
+ **This command teleports you to a random location within 10,000 blocks of spawn.** It has a short cooldown of 5 minutes between uses. This is the best method of leaving the greater area of spawn quickly, without assistance!
+
+
+ ##### /warp
+ This command, when paired with a location (/warp end) will teleport you to a location defined by the staff team. Sometimes these are much further out in the world than the spawn area.
+
+ Currently only three warps exist, and all are in the end, so they aren't super useful to brand new players.
+
+
+ ##### /tpa
+ This command, when paired with a player name (/tpa glasscrab) will send a teleport request to that person that they can accept or deny. If anyone is far out into the world, they may let you teleport to them to skip the walking or the randomness of /tpr. Be aware that most users won't accept a random tpa request, so you should probably ask first!
+
+
+ ##### /pwarp
+ Players are able to make their own warps, similar to the /warp command, which are be scattered throughout the world. To view a catalog of these, use the command **"/pwarp"**. From there, a menu will appear that you can use to browse all player-made warps! If this menu does not appear, or you already know which pwarp you'd like to visit, you can instead use the **/pwarp command paired with the name of a pwarp** (/pwarp bigfarm) to go to that specific pwarp easily.
+
+ Use this with caution as a new player, since this is kind of the wild west! Players are not allowed to have outright traps as pwarps, but the area the warp is in may be inherently dangerous, such as the nether, end, or an unlit area at night. Additionally, a lot of pwarps are within an enclosed, claimed area, from which you cannot leave without use of a different teleport command.
+
- #### /tpr
- This command teleports you to a random location within 10,000 blocks of spawn once every 30 minutes.
- #### /warp
- This command, when paired with a location (/warp aga) will teleport you to a location defined by the staff team, sometimes these are much further out in the world than the spawn area.
- #### /tpa
- This command, when paired with a player name (/tpa glasscrab) will send a teleport request to that person that they can accept or deny. If anyone is far out into the world they may let you teleport to them to skip the walking or the randomness of /rtp.
+ #### Other Teleportation Commands
+

- #### Player-made Warps (WIP)
- Players will be able to make their own warps similar to the /warp command, but this most likely won't be avaliable on release.
+ ##### /spawn
+ If you need to get back to spawn at any time, this command will do that!
+
+ ##### /back
+ If you've teleported somewhere and you want to get back to the place you were in prior, use this command! It's instant, and can easily get you out of sticky situations. **This can also be used after death, to return to the location where you died.**

- ##### Now that you've learned how to find a spot to live, lets go over how to make sure nobody can destroy what you've built.
- ####
- #### _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
## Claiming Land
- Land Claims are a rectangular plot of land that only you (and people you add to it) can break or place blocks in. When you hold your golden shovel in your hand, and right click on the ground, it prepares the first corner of the rectangle, which will highlight in glowstone. Right clicking in a different spot will mark the second corner as well as complete the claim. A claim must contain at least 100 square blocks of space (10x10, 5x20) and must also be at least 5 blocks thick.

+
+ Once you've found someplace to call your own, it's time to make sure no one else can mess with it!

+ Land Claims are a rectangular plot of land that only you (and people you allow) can break or place blocks in. When you hold your golden shovel in your hand, and right click on the ground, it prepares the first corner of the rectangle, which will highlight in glowstone. Right clicking in a different spot will mark the second corner, as well as complete the claim. A claim must contain at least 100 square blocks of space (10x10, 5x20) and must also be at least 5 blocks wide.
Placing a chest will also give you the option to claim the land around it, but claiming via the shovel gives you much more control over the size and shape of the area.
+
+ Land claims can be edited at any time by holding the golden shovel within the claim. This will once again highlight the edges of the claim. From there, right click a corner to begin resizing the claim. Right click another block to make that block the new corner of the claim.

+ ## Homes
+

+
+ After you've claimed a spot for yourself, you'll probably want a way to assure you don't lose track of it. That's where the /sethome command comes in!
+
+ **The /sethome command creates a private teleport point that only you can see and use.** To create a home, use **"/sethome [name]",** where [name] is whatever you'd like! You can do the command without providing a name, but be careful with this. If you do the command again without providing a name, it will override your previous unnamed home, and you will lose it forever! The same happens if you attempt to set a home with the same name as a home you already have.
+
+ Once your home is created, you can teleport to it at any time by using the command **"/home [name]"** where [name] is whatever your home's name is!
+
+ **You can have up to THREE homes at once!**
+ - You can view the names of your homes using the "/homes" command. (Only works if you have more than one.)
+ - You can delete a home using the "/delhome [name]" command. (Where [name] is the name of the home you'd like to delete.)
